Yorkshire lambs

4 Apr

Upon my weekend travels, I got to watch these adorable lambs find their way:

Super cute, seemingly bright and utterly compelling to watch.

Love Story

30 Jun

Having always been a cat lover, I was delighted when a furry friend revealed itself on the first morning of our Greek adventure.

The cat’s first attempt at joining in the fun was whilst we were supping our morning coffee on day one.

Morning, I can Haz coffee too?

Morning, I can Haz coffee too?

Having always been a dog lover, the boyfriend struggled with the idea of having a cat around the house and declared it a ‘dirty pest’ (although I was sure that even at this early stage, he didn’t really mean it).

Alarmed that a cat could appear from nowhere, jump into his lap and expect some tickle action – interrupting his much anticipated holiday reading – was certainly a shock to him.

It's OK, I won't bite :)

Taa Daa, here I am again! It's OK, I won't bite :)

There we go, perfect fit.

There we go, perfect fit.

The cat however, persisted in her ‘you will love me’ campaign, by getting involved with the boyfriend’s morning stretch routine –  a strong start which showed off her playful nature particularly well I thought.

I can do that too, do you love me yet?

I can do that too, look!

I likes this one better.

I likes this one better.

Without trying much harder, she moved in. Two became three.

Chillin' on the stairs, rollinz, rollinz, rollinz.

Chillin' on the stairs, rollinz, rollinz, rollinz.

Whilst we supped coffee, she supped milk al fresco from the finest bone china.

It didn’t take too long before the boyfriend was giving out tickles without being jumped upon.

No sooner had the cat sat down to bask in the afternoon sunshine; the boyfriend was there, doing the chin, the cheeks, the ears, top of the head and if rumours are true – the belly.

Left a bit...

Left a bit...

And so, by the end of week one, a love story unfolded – cat and boyfriend learnt to enjoy time together. He got to read, whilst she got a welcoming lap.

I had readz it anyway.

I had readz it anyways.

I on the other hand, got bitten by cat gremlins every night for the remainder of the holiday after this photo was taken.

Quick musings on Love magazine.

25 Feb

I saw, I bought and I read.

It’s been a while since such a high profile magazine has launched and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in and have a nosey.

How was this high-gloss fashion mag going to position itself a) within the industry and b) during a recession?

The Things I liked about Love…

  1. Contents page design, love the thumbnail pics, am expecting to see this visual device used in other mags soon
  2. Curly font in general, particularly on the cover; it kind of mirrored Dittos curves (have just seen this on the cover of Elle mag too!)
  3. Loved the colour of the cover; that pale green/turquoise was so striking next to Ditto’s snow white skin and crimson hair
  4. Ditto actually worked for me on the cover – I don’t really care that she is plus sized, not really into that as a positive image –  BUT stylistically, I thought is was great
  5. Admire the endeavour – Katie’s honesty in her opening gambit was very bold, refreshing and honest, possibly quite risky too. Should anyway ever reveal that much about how it all came together?
  6. The photography was amazing; stand outs for me: Kate Moss, Kelly Brooke, Mick Jagger’s toothy daughter (she is stunning)
  7. The fashion students – great piece!
  8. The experience was akin to visiting a photography exhibition in Hoxton, very lovely and elite

The Things I didn’t like about Love…

  1. Too many ‘Love’ features, felt tired very quickly
  2. The Title font, not a fan
  3. Had anticipated more meaty fashion editorial/stories
  4. Concerned with the theme of ‘Love’ – is this complex enough to sustain a magazine? Or will it change it’s theme/title with each edition? Can there really be more ‘I Love the following things…’ articles out there?
  5. Whilst the Ditto image worked stylistically – it’s not wholly original as NME featured her as a nudey cover girl in 07…
  6. The experience was over very quickly
